Corvid FALL 2020 Out Now!

Avengers Endgame Is Already Making Box Office History

Marvel has always been a big deal, and for many fans of the franchise, Marvel holds much more than monetary value; it’s the reigniting of childhood memories fawning over the comics and spending far too much time wishing that you were in possession of your own superpower. (Mine was telekinesis – just in case you were wondering; if fact, it totally still is).

But Marvel box office revenues are starting to allude to just how fiercely loyal their fans are. They have already helped Marvel create the highest-grossing superhero film ever made with Black Panther in 2018. Black Panther raked in $631 million knocking the 2012 Avengers film off the top spot but it’s highly likely that Endgame will see Black Panther fall to second place as the hype over Marvel’s new releases turns into hysteria.

The desperate scramble for tickets may have a lot to do with the fact that fans have been in anticipation to see if the dusted characters will return in Endgame, with how ominous the trailer for Endgame looks, buying tickets may be classed as cinematic masochism. Usually, you’ll see a hint of the somewhat questionable humour in the trailer, but not this time. While there are faint rays of hope shown in the trailer, we can only hope that it isn’t too much of a bitter-sweet goodbye as we say farewell to a ten-year-old tale.

Avengers Endgame has already literally broken the internet with pre-sales of tickets. So, it’s no wonder why pundits are placing their bets on Endgame making even more history when the film will premiere in the UK on April 26th, 2019 just shortly after Captain Marvel which will be released on the 8th of March. But it is also noted that opening weekend ticket sales isn’t always that much of a strong indicator of gross box office sales.

That being said, 21 days ahead of the premiere, it has been predicted that Avengers: Endgame will rake in £637.8 million. And everyone knows hype is infectious – will FOMO hit people hard and draw even more people to the cinema on the weekend of the release?

Anyone with the intention to do so, probably better look into that pretty sharpish! They’re going to be more expensive than tickets to Fyre Festival soon.

Got any Spare Tickets?

I’m sure most of us know that awful feeling when you’ve missed out on tickets for a gig, then you have to resort to using touts who basically act as the anti-Robin Hoods for the music industry. But what you’re probably not used to seeing, is cinema tickets listed on eBay for the sum of a few thousand dollars.

While it’s good news for those with $10k lying around looking for bragging rights on how much they paid for an $8 ticket in true Patrick Bateman style superfluousness, the success of capitalists at the cost of fans probably shouldn’t be celebrated. But now, tickets for the date of the premiere are the hottest commodity after some fans experienced the frustration of waiting over an hour to purchase tickets from the likes of AMC and Odeon.

Avengers Endgame Ebay Ticket Sales

The highest tickets sold so far on eBay was for the sum of $15,000, the sale was completed not too long after the tickets went on pre-release on April 3rd, 2019. 2 lucky (if we can call them that) snagged the tickets for the 3:40pm show on Friday the 26th April in New Jersey. Don’t worry, there’s still plenty more tickets on sale via eBay. Or maybe you’ll be able to pop down to the cinema on the day of the premiere and see if there is anyone outside buying and selling tickets.

At least they’ll be amongst the first to see which of the characters we will be saying goodbye to forever in the MCU. At the moment fans have predicted that Captain America will take his perpetual leave, followed by Iron Man, Hawkeye and War Machine. It’s no wonder that some fans will be on the edges of very expensive seats!

Undoubtedly we’re all left with a lot of questions after we’ve trawled Reddit and scoured YouTube for some clue as to what we’re in store for when we head to the cinema. (Just in case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past year and you somehow missed out on the cinematically chilling official movie trailer – here it is!)

Marvel has done well so far to ensure that there have been no leaks – unless you know something that we don’t.

But here’s what has been confirmed so far:

Stan Lee’s usual cameo will be included in the film as it was shot at the same as his Ant-Man and the Wasp Cameo.

We have it on pretty good authority that the runtime will be three hours, and considering that infinity War was 2 hours and 40 minutes, it isn’t all too unlikely! At least the people paying $15,000 for two tickets will get plenty of value for money – or not.

Frank Grillo will return as Crossbones going head to head with Captain America in a flashback.

There’s plenty of speculation over Captain America’s death after his rather emotional tweet admitting that it was an emotional day wrapping up filming after spending 8 years enjoying spandex.

If you want the best chance of picking up some Easter eggs before you watch Avengers: Endgame, you may want to turn your attention to Civil War, and Infinity War. Or, you can choose to watch all 62 films and TV series which brings to life the MCU Magic. You may have just enough time to squeeze them in until the much-anticipated release date!
